Before or After St. Moritz
As we get closer to the time and know people's travel patterns we are going to organize some smaller lunches and dinners in St. Moritz that include some of our favorites. That being said, if you wish to explore outside of the Engadin Valley, here are some suggestions.
Choose your own adventure!
Recommendations Beyond St. Moritz:
Below are some recommendations in Switzerland/Italy depending on your flight schedule. Simply suggestions, we would love to have you in St. Moritz as long as you're willing!
- Interlaken/Grundelwald/Wengen
- Crans Montana
- Verbier
- Zermatt (via the Glacier Express Train from St. Moritz)
- Chamonix
From Geneva:
- Fly into Geneva and enjoy world class dining, Swiss wine and maybe even take the Chocolate train on the Golden Pass Express.
- Fly in/out of Milan and experience this fashion/culinary hub without the throng of tourists.
For the City Slickers:
For the most adventurous and romantic:
- Fly into Venice and experience the Dolomites (post-Olympics, should be quiet). You can check out Alpe de Suisse (Como Alpina), Ortisei (Gardena Grödnerhof), Cortina (Rosapetra), San Cassiano (including the newly reopened Aman Rosa Alpina), and create a full mountain experience out of your time in Europe. Lindsey is happy to recommend additional hotels.
- Fly into Zurich and drive to Berghuus Radons en route to St. Moritz. This is a remote hut that requires skiing or snowmobiling into the property, but the rooms, culinary journey, and the overall experience are well worth the journey for a cozy stay.
- Well, it's winter. We would normally recommend a stay in Lake Como or Maggiore, but it is not the "it season". That being said, some people may prefer to experience this outside of the peak tourist season, so go for it!
- Purely for the adventurous, Verbier includes a culture of extreme mountaineering so saddle up.
For the Ski Racing Fans
- Fly into Munich and check out Lech and Zurs, and then a bit further check out Innsbruck
- Fly into Geneva and make your way to Interlaken/Grundewald/Wengen before coming to party in St. Moritz. You can also check out Crans Montana as an alternate route.
- An hour and a half from Geneva is Verbier. Think Jackson Hole in French-speaking Switzerland.
Exceptional Experiences:
- Take the Glacier Express train from St. Moritz to Zermatt. Imagine Walt Disney on the tiny trains, in a walking town, with the Matterhorn included. You can be a skier and plan some challenging routes on the glacier or you can just enjoy the town.
